Community Based Interdisciplinary Allied Health Service (Queensland Health) for:
Children aged 0-8 years presenting with complex developmental delays not eligible for support from other service providers, or children aged 0-18 years with a primary physical impairment who are not eligible for support from other service providers.
The Queensland Cerebral Palsy Health Service (CP Health) Townsville based physiotherapists and occupational therapists are located with the CDS team. These therapists provide health based management for children eligible for the CP Health service as an adjunct to the services provided by the child’s primary service provider.
The CDS team consists of a Team Leader, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Worker and Allied Health Assistant.
CDS works within the Life Course Perspective and a Family Centred Framework. CDS recognises the importance of understanding the child within their own context (i.e. the childs identity as part of the family unit and as part of other daily environments including school and the wider community);
CDS undertake a collaborative approach to client management which involves the input of various people in addressing issues at the most beneficial and appropriate times in the childs life course (i.e. family, school, peers, professionals);
CDS provide outreach services to eligible clients living in Ingham, Giru, Ayr, Home Hill, Bowen, Collinsville, Charters Towers, Hughenden and Richmond.
Parent/guardian, schools, doctors and other allied health professionals can refer to CDS via a parent consented referral form (available on this website).
